The Eckman 42gallon Compost Tumbler is easy to maneuver and, thanks to the sealed revolving ‘drum’, it provides perfect, moist, high quality and nutritious compost.

Once assembled using the easy-to-follow instructions the tumbler can be positioned wherever preferred using the grab-handle/frame and wheels before loading with biodegradable food waste, lawn cuttings and other ideal compost material.

When turned once a day, in ideal conditions (during warm and wet spring/summer months), garden and kitchen waste will be transformed into nutritious compost for your plants, flowers and home grown vegetables in less than 4 weeks!

Q why is this better than my upright composter?
A Most standard composters are either ‘box’ or ‘cylinder’ styles that are fixed in position either only allowing access via the top, or if it’s a plastic one you may have access for loading compost waste material at the top and then a door access at the bottom for removal. The problem with these designs is that’s it’s hard to mix the compost as you can’t really get a fork/spade into the composter easily - and you need to mix your compost to get an even development and to ‘air’ the compost.

We believe The Eckman Tumbler is better because:

1. it allows you to rotate the barrel/drum so that it’s far easier to evenly mix your compost (no fork or spade required), and;

2. as the drum is sealed the moisture that builds up is retained in the composter to produce nutritious moist compost (in traditional compost designs they can dry out as moisture can drain out the bottom; as the tumbler is sealed water drains vertically (gravity) and each time you turn the drum the moisture is added back and kept in the

Q Why would I want to change the position of the tumbler in my garden?
A To produce good compost you need a good balance of heat, moisture and aeration. Positioning your composter in a part of your garden that receives some direct sunlight throughout the day will help to ensure the composter generates enough heat to quickly produce good compost. As the sun changes position throughout the seasons it helps to be able to easily change position of the composter within your garden – the Eckman Tumbler is mounted on a stand with strong sturdy wheels – so it’s perfect!
