Product Information
Description
The Eckman 2-stroke petrol cultivator makes easy work of preparing soil for vegetable gardens, flower beds or lawn laying - saving you from hours of back-breaking digging.
The Eckman petrol tiller has a powerful 42.7cc / 1.6HP low maintenance engine which helps break up and turn over soil up to 20cm deep by 25cm wide in a single pass, quickly and effortlessly.
The more passes you make over the ground with the Eckman cultivator the finer and more aerated the soil becomes and of course you can use it to mix in garden compost and feed. Being petrol-powered there’s no potentially dangerous trailing power leads or restriction on where you can work.
Also available: Electric Start version - all the same great features as PTC1 but includes automatic self-charging electric starting system.

FAQs
Q: Can I download instructions for this product?
A: Yes, you can download a PDF copy of the instructions for this product by
clicking here
Q: Is there a customer service phone number I can call for assistance?
A: The Eckman Customer Service number is 0871 590 5911
Q: Is this machine self-propelled or do I have to push it?
A: In fact it’s self-propelled. When the revolving tines dig into the ground, this has the effect of pushing the machine forwards. Pulling back against the forwards motion will have the effect of the tines digging deeper into the ground.
Q: What do the wheels at the back do?
A: They have three purposes – to help transport the machine; to help stabilise the machine when tilling; to act as a tilling depth adjustment.
Q: You say this machine is low maintenance. Can you explain?
A: Apart from keeping the machine clean, checking all nuts and bolts are secure, and removing any debris that may have got stuck in between the tines ( specially when working in clay soils), the main thing is to keep the air filter clean as this is the most common cause of engine misfire and bad running if left to become dirty. Removing the air filter is simple and well explained in the operations manual. Once removed, there’s a small sponge filter inside and again, cleaning it only takes a moment or two and is explained in the manual. A check and clean if necessary after every 10 hours of use should be fine.
Q: Is any assembly involved before I can use the machine and will I need any special tools?
A: The tiller comes fully assembled with the exception of the handlebars and wheel assembly, both of which take just a few moments. No special tools are required.
Q: If for some reason I break one of the tines, can it be replaced?
A: Yes. Replacing the tines is quite straight forward and covered in the instructions. Tines should be replaced as a set of four so that the wear is even. They are available from Eckman Spares / Eckman Customer Services on 0871 590 5917.

| Really easy to build up and to use. instructions were fairly adequate. Priming the first fuel through was a litle frustrating....seemed to take some time. 15 - 20 tugs on the starter and I was away. The machine seemed to throw up quite a bit of soil but overall the whole thing was very good for the price. Would recommend to friends. |

| PRODUCT: | |
An excellant product which does the job really well. My only criticisms are with the instructions which do not tell you what to do with the two loose wires and also the fact that the choke works opposite to what you are told. [T2 Direct: The labels for the choke have now been amended so that they read right. Apologies for the confusion.] |

Excellent value. Given a tough test on Allotment, Flying Colours! Could make G/Box oil filler larger! |

| PRODUCT: | |
| A graet little machine for the small/medium garden. My only critisism would be of the wheels for moving it around. They could give more clearance in order that the tynes dont catch the floor. |

| Nice and light, easy to start and does the job, but noisy and vibrates a bit. I will need my motorbike gloves and ear plugs. The neighbours will just have to get used to it. (The manual says 105 dB(A) and claims that's "low noise"!!!) |

| An excellent little machine for the money, better than a mantiss and a third of the price. Warm up the gear oil in a jug of hot water before you try to put it in. |
| Christine Jones, Middlesbrough |
| PRODUCT: | |
Great product but takes ages to fill the gearbox. I had to put oil in microwave to make it fluid enough to pour. [T2 Direct response] the gearbox oil is very thick and it may well need warming up slightly in order to make pouring easier. |

READ PREVIOUS REVIEWS WHICH STATED THAT LABEL FOR CHOKE WAS WRONG WAY ROUND.THIS IS STILL THE CASE AND ALL IT NEEDS IS FOR THE ADHESIVE LABEL TO BE TURNED ROUND SO WHY NOT PUT THE LABEL THE RIGHT WAY ROUND DURING MANUFACTURE. T2 Direct: Thanks, Carl. This oversight has now been corrected and the label is now the right way around. |

This is a tiller not a cultivator and is excellent on pre-prepared ground which is what it is designed for. Used in this way it is as good as anything on the market for the job. This is used on allotments and is expected to do a lot of work. |

| For the price of the Cultivator and not heard of Eckman before was a little worried about its consruction for the price. NO NEED TO HAVE WORRIED. When it came was very impressewd with the construction and quality of the cultivator. The only problem was with cofussion on the choke markings when lever is in Off postion it is acutually ON, When in ON postion it accutally Off. |
